I was saddened to report the passing of Leonard Nimoy recently. But I enjoyed reading about the relationship between Nimoy and Zachory Quinto, young Spock in the latest reboot of the Star Trek movies (2009 and 2013 - directed by J.J. Abrams).

The quote (apparently from Twitter) was touching, "my heart is broken. i love you profoundly my dear friend. and i will miss you everyday. may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

But the video clips of the two of them in interviews, etc, show a relaxed and mutual friendship. The following is an advertisement made by the two for Audi. (2min43sec)

Leonard Nimoy was an accomplished actor and director. Was he blessed with the good fortune to be Spock or somewhat cursed. I think he found in later life that Spock was the gift that gift that kept on giving. There are worse examples of being trapped in a role.

I think the film clips that I looked at show a relaxed and mutual enjoyment between Nimoy and the younger actor who now plays Spock, Zach Quinto. I think this shows that Leonard was very comfortable with Spock in his later life. The clip of "The Challenge" made for Audi motorcars was shown as an example of this.
