My first Sunday open was scheduled for this spectacular Bell Canyon view home:  I had photo box advertising in the L A Times, I had mailed out open house invitations to the neighborhood, I'd blogged and posted all over the internet, flyers were printed, directional signs prepared, I was so ready for action!  The weather wasn't cooperating though, it had rained every day leading up to the weekend. Anywhere else in the country, this wouldn't be an issue, but here in LA, we don't do rain, and we certainly can't function when it rains!

Two days before the open house, Mrs Seller called me, "I think we should cancel the open house, no one will come".  One day before, Mr Seller called me to ask "Are you stil planning on the open house?", I told them both:  Serious buyers will look at houses for sale in any kind of weather!  Fingers crossed behind my back ...

Sunday morning arrived, it was cloudy but no rain yet so I set out early and was ready to open the doors at 1pm.  What if no one came?  This house was in a guard gated community so I couldn't rely on people passing by -  I'd look such a fool in front of my clients!!  Well, I'm happy to report that people arrived in droves! This was one of the busiest open houses I had ever had, and even when it started to rain, people were walking around outside exploring this unique property and marveling at the spectacular views offered by this Bell Canyon view home.

The open house was fun, feedback was good and the sellers were pleased - especially when a great offer arrived on Monday from a family who saw the house on Sunday!

The moral of this story is:  Come rain or shine, the show must go on!
