I'm not a President, Governor, Mayor or anything else so I'm guessing that precludes me from declaring anything a "DAY". However, social media affords us the opportunity to get the word out on things we may otherwise not be able to, so I'm declaring April 9th "Abby Tizzano's I Love This Day" Day. You see April 9th will be the first anniversay of the death of my 8 year old daughter to cancer. I know it's unusual to think of a reason to love that day but she was an unusually happy and loving little girl. The photo below is from her second grade journal and this was the end of just about every entry:
So in order to honor her memory I'm choosing not to do what I want to do on that date, I'm choosing what she would want me to do. She'd want me to find a reason to love the day although I'll want to be looking at that date on the calendar and hating it. She'd want me to be kind and friendly to everyone I see on that day although I'll want to be closed off and disconnected from the world. I understand that anniversaries, holidays, and other milestone dates hold a special meaning in situations like this but I've also learned that they are their own day. April 9th 2015 does not have to be the same as April 9th 2014 which was the worst day of my life. I've created a Facebook page to honor her spirit and an event on the anniversary of her death to try to turn the memory of the worst day of our life into something a little more positive.

Feel free to join if you would like, otherwise find a reason to love EVERY day. #BeLikeAbby #ILoveThisDay
