Quarry Creek Development in Carlsbad is Moving Ahead
The much debated, and hotly-contested, Quarry Creek development in Carlsbad is moving ahead now that law suits filed by the environmental group, Preserve Calavera, have been settled with a number of concessions by the builder.
The final construction plans are awaiting approval by the City of Carlsbad.

The Quarry Creek development will now consist of 636 condos, down from 656 housing units, with some affordable housing and low-income apartments on a 156-acre parcel south of the 78 freeway and west of College Boulevard. Access will be via Marron Road in Oceanside.
An additional 60 acres of recreation and hiking land that was also purchased to preserve adjacent open space that will be owned by the City of Carlsbad.
While the Quarry Creek neighborhood is being built in and around an abandoned quarry, controversy swirled about the Marron Adobe, a ranch house dating back to the 1850s in the area, as well as a creek and water falls sacred to Native Americans.
Stay tuned for more updates. The orange fencing is up and they are expected to start work soon, including installing a sewer and reclaimed water line from the lines along Tamarack to the south by The Knolls neighborhood.
The other bit of news – the Corky McMillin Company was the original developer but the project has now been purchased by Presidio Cornerstone who will develop Quarry Creek.
