Perusing the MLS today, I noticed my business partner had a listing that was 2,181 days old. On Thursday next week, that listing will celebrate its sixth birthday! The listing is for a vacant residential lot in a small Wyoming town that doesn't see a lot of activity.

So that made me wonder...what's the oldest active listing on our MLS?

...drumroll...

And, in a field of 2,287 active listings, the award goes to MLS 06-699, which celebrated its NINTH birthday just two days ago! Other than new construction, our oldest is only 900 days. It's a totally spectacular penthouse at the Watergate. Could be yours for just under $3million, and worth every nickel.

All I can say is WHAT??? I think most listings get pulled after a period of time if they are not selling. Of course as I say that, the house next to us was put on Market in 2006 - pulled once to refresh and sold in 2013... We have great neighbors now!

Wow. That's a long time for property to be on the market; slightly more understanding for land, but still! Loyalty to one's listing agent is one thing; having a stale listing on the market is something else. It's hard to imagine a nine year listing!

Right now in our MLS we have 2 LONG listings - the runner-up is also the most expensive listing in San Diego County at $49M, an oceanfront property on 6 acres, first listed back in 2007. The winner was listed back in 2004, on the market for 4098 days at $1.4M - a beach cottage with the adjacent lot. My personal longest listing was about 7 months
