20,000 Days under the Sun - Today in my life I am hitting a major milestone, today is the 20,000th day of my life. I was at a concert a few months back watching Robert Plant with my youngest son, who has my taste in music and Robert mentioned that it had been 17,256 days (or something like that) since he first performed in Denver, ironically that was Led Zeppelins first American concert as well. When he made that comment I was curious to see just how long ago that many days was.
It also got me very curious to see how long I had been around, and as you can imagine there are many sites for searching this, one in particular I liked was 1 Happy Birthday because it allows you to plug in two different dates, instead of just one date that calculates from a certain date to today's date. Maybe I am having a little too much fun with this, but it is very interesting to plug in dates and see how many days have transpired.
So as I look back on 20,000 days and think I really have not accomplished much in my life, I realize that that is really not the case, I have raised three wonderful boys, spent 7 years in college at three different Universities, been married for 24+ years (8777 days), owned 4 businesses, met thousands of wonderful people, traveled a bit, but not nearly enough, coached for 19 years and 5 different sports with a couple hundred boys and girls playing on my teams, helped hundreds of families move into and out of their homes, trained scores of agents and employees and have pretty much enjoyed every day of it.
So plenty more days ahead, and although I doubt I will see another 20,000 I plan to make even better use of my days ahead than I did with those behind.
I maintain my motto, my credo, my single daily mantra to "Make Someones Day Today" something I have lived by now for 10,949 days.
Very thankful for so many people and things in my life. Cheers!
