One of the biggest
mistakes people make is not promoting their content. Believe me, I've been there.
When you write a new blog post you have to do a lot of work to get it out there.
Most people typically spend 80% of their time producing content and only 20% of their time promoting it. In reality, many of the very best marketers out there flip those numbers.
Of course, it's important to be sure you're providing your readers (and potential clients) with high quality content, but you want to make sure people can actually see it too.
Here are 5 places you want to consider when promoting your content online.
Your Newsletter
Want your readers and clients to learn from your content? Then send it right to their mailbox on a consistent basis. From there, you can track the open rates to see what people like and adjust from there to tailor to what will make your readers interested.
SlideShare
SlideShare is a great tool for hooking people onto your content. Essentially, you take anything you've written and convert it into something akin to a Power Point presentation that's very clickable. These are easy to share on social media like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
YouTube
Not enough people are utilizing YouTube to share their content, especially the content that's already been made. Take simple explainer posts, things like "10 Tips on Any Buyer's Checklist" and make a quick 2 minute video explaining the tips.
Collaboration Posts
A great way to get your content shared more? Have other people share it, especially if they are influencers in the field. Reach out to other people in the industry (agents, mortgage brokers, home inspectors, etc.) and do a joint post. Every one of you can share it and reach that many more people.
As one of the fastest growing social media networks going right now, LinkedIN is finally ready to join the big boys. Since they now have a blog platform, it's a great way to share your content, they even allow syndication, to a new market of professionals who can become clients.
Next time you click publish on your post, take a few minutes to focus on how to get it out there to increase your exposure.
