Well, I won't lie. I could have reached this milestone years ago if I had remained consistent with my blogging and commenting, but I'm happy to report finally reached the 1,000,000 point threshold with this post.
I have been saying for awhile that I intend to blog more, but my business, family, church, and ministry to the needy and homeless have kept me very busy, so I don't know if I'll really do that anytime soon.
However, I will emphatically state that ActiveRain is still responsible for some lasting friendships, and I still get business pretty much every month from this site due to my prior efforts.
I get referrals from some of the best agents around the country, and my profile and posts still rank well on Google.
This post of mine garnered 3,137 comments (many of which came from my friends who hijacked it):
How to Get Over 100 Comments on Your Posts - A Retrospective
Here's the sequel to that one:
One of my posts, "Austin Texas Relocation Package", has been featured at conferences as an example of how to blog locally. It has received TONS of organic traffic from Google and other search engines. Frankly, it needs updating. :) As of this writing, it has had 115,877 clicks. I have never paid a dime for this exposure. Simply put, ActiveRain works if you work it. It even led to a paid blogging gig for awhile, along with numerous speaking and consulting opportunities, and a live podcast that I co-hosted for several years.
Here are a couple of additional statistics, just because I feel like it:
- 47,081 comments received
- 23,488 comments left
- 1,246 blog posts written
- 182 featured posts
- 19 members invited
- 2,073 followers (formerly known as "subscribers")
Thank you to those of you who have encouraged me with my writing over the years. I am in the process of creating a real estate book for consumers using some of my content from this blog....assuming I can find the time, that is.
