Raleigh's Tour D'Coop is coming!

Here's an event you won't want to miss!

Raleigh's annual Tour D'Coop is a fundraiser for Urban Ministries.  Chicken coops around the city will be open to visitors from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, May 16.   Once you purchase a ticket -- and one ticket is all you need for your group -- you'll receive an email with the addresses of all the coops.  The website says you won't have time to see them all, so read the descriptions and plan ahead.

Recommended donation is $10 per individual or $20 per family.

Dianne,

This is another first for me, I had never heard of Chicken Coop tours.  Are they all different types of breeds?  There is a nursery in Sonoma, where they have lots of coops among the plants with different breeds of chickens, and we were astounded by so many of them.  One breed was white with fur like a cats, these were feathers.

Hi Alexandra.  I have a client and several neighbors with backyard chickens -- they are quite the thing!  (Hens only though; no roosters).  I think the criteria are geared more toward egg production than exotic feathers.
