You Might Be From Lane County, Oregon If ...

Lane County, Oregon Map* You buy at least some of your produce at a local farmers market or directly from the farm itself.

* You don't pay sales tax and will never vote to approve one.

* You know that Springfield, Oregon is the real Springfield where the Simpsons TV characters live.

* You know that Eugene, Oregon is the real Shelbyville on the Simpsons TV show.

* You know that it never rains at Autzen Stadium, where the University of Oregon Ducks play football.

* You can visit more than a dozen wineries in just an afternoon's drive.

* You can sample craft brews from a dozen local breweries and get your growler filled with a large selection of craft beers made throughout the state.

* You let someone else pump the gasoline for you.

* You can visit the most photographed lighthouse on the West Coast and not leave the county.

* You know that you'd "Better Head for Jerry's" if you need some home improvement items.

Lane County Recreation Map* You go for a drive and have to decide if you want to see the Oregon Coast, Cascade Mountains, dozens of waterfalls, several National Forests, the McKenzie River Recreation Area, wineries, lakes and reservoirs, and more.

* You know that Lane County has the largest concentration of covered bridges west of the Mississippi.

* You say 'that's will-AM-it, DAM-it' when someone tries (and fails) to pronounce Willamette.

Cynthia Larsen, yes there are a a lot of words like "Willamette" that get mispronounced by non-residents.  Another common one is "Ore-Gone", instead of "Orygun".

The coastal town of Yachats is often mispronounced.  Locals call it "Yah Hots".

This was great. I had no clue about Lane County or the pronunciation of Willamette and Yachats.

What a wonderful post about Lane County, and I have been there quite a few times as my daughter is attending U of O and is a Duck. In fact, I will be visiting her within the next couple of weeks!
