Palos Verdes Whale Of A Day Celebration!

Whale Of A Day, March 5, 2011, Point Vicente Interpretive Center, Rancho Palos Verdes 90275

Whale Of A Day festival on April 4, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. can be enjoyed be Palos Verdes homes owners and their neighbors throughout the South Bay.  This annual event is co-sponsored by the City of Rancho Palos Verdes and the docents of Los Serenos de Point Vicente.  This is a festival which celebrates the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale from its summer feeding grounds in the Bering and Chuchki Seas in Alaska to its winter breeding and calving grounds in Baja.  To date the season count from Point Vicente is 2,362 whale sightings.  If you are looking for a popular fun outing for the whole family to enjoy, stop by the Point Vicente Interpretive Center and participate in the free “Whale Of A Day” activities.

Whale Of A Day will include whale watching from the shore, museum tours, Point Vicente Lighthouse tours (ages 7 and older and a minimum of 44" tall) exhibits and more.   The children will enjoy crafts, games, fun zone and face painting, story telling and chalk drawing – all at no charge.  The arts & crafts, exhibits and vendors will be marine themed.  This event always has great live entertainment which includes music and animals.  Some of the past participants have included The Aquarium of the Pacific with its Aquarium on Wheels, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, George F Canyon Nature Center, Save the Manatee, National Marine Fisheries, Heal the Bay, Marine Mammal Care Center, South Bay Wildlife Rehab and other local organizations.  And if you are hungry, there will be multiple food booths to buy treats throughout the day.

Interesting.  Not sure about the timing of Easter weekend, but whale watching is very appealing to me.

That's neat, get a seat on a high plateau and watch the parade of whales as they swim by
