Hilton Head WING FEST March 20-21,2015

Hilton Head WING FEST March 20-21, 2015If it's March it's definitely festival time and this weekend is the 20th annual HILTON HEAD WING FEST presented by Hargray Telecommunicationsorganized by the Hilton Head Island  Recreation Center!

THE BASICS

ADMISSION: $6.00 each day for adults - kids free

Event location: Shelter Cove Community Park-39 Shelter Cove Lane, HHI

Friday March 20th from 5:00PM to 9:00 PM

Saturday March 21st from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

WHAT TO EXPECT

Wings and wings and more wings! From the restaurants famous for their wings like The Smokehouse, the perennial favorite One Hot Mamas, Wild Wings, to the amateurs with their variations on the theme, mexican wings, oriental style wings, barbeque wings, dry rubbed wings, you get the picture! You'll purchase tickets to present to the vendors at a $1/ticket. Usually you'll get 3 wings per ticket with some kind of side and nice presentation.

There's plenty of entertainment to enjoy the finger lickin' treats - on Friday local duo Taylor Burns and Sara Kent kickoff the music followed by Groove Town Assault. NEW for 2015 to celebrate the 20th anniversary will be a Laser Light Show!

Saturday will feature Jo Jo & The Home Pickles and a local favorite Deaz Guys plus rounding out the day Liquid Ginger. Along with music, there is a kids zone, rock climbing wall, and bungee jump. TIPS Bring a chair so you can enjoy all the music and what is always a pretty day. We don't usually allow rain for the Wing Fest! Bring a blanket if you have little ones so that they have a clean place to sit on the grass and so that you can spread out and even have a picnic. Bring your ID; there are other things besides sodas and water and if you're going to imbibe, need to show your ID to the vendors. Take pictures; family fun never lasts long enough and a day on Hilton Head enjoying finger lickin' goodness is always worth preserving and sharing!

WHY do we have the Wing Fest? This festival is presented by Hargray who is a terrific community partner and steps up to the plate often to be involved in local charities. The proceeds from this event funds the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association's Childrens Education Fund where "no child is denied recreation opportunities."
