Fishhawk Lake-Tuesday Travelogue-March 17th

Welcome to the ongoing weekly series called Tuesday Travelogue. We are in our thirty-seventh week! Each week, some ActiveRain bloggers are spotlighted to take us somewhere we may not have been on some kind of virtual travel (and it doesn't cost a dime!). Here is the purpose:

" to enjoy the ride"

"take a trip without even leaving the farm"

"expand your horizons"

"see through someone else's eyes"

 and hopefully much more!

(Be sure and click on the links in blue.)

"Marching" across America...that's what we're doing. Maine in March, anyone??

Well, since I live near Portland, OREGON, I thought I'd start out with Portland, MAINE....look at this gorgeous photo of  Acadia National Park! A picture says a thousand words...check out George Kando's photos. Each one of his photos will take you to some great links...don't forget to click on them!

Acadia National Park

Let's see....how about a "lake camp" in Maine? Andrew Mooers has my heart with his delightful descriptions of fireflies, children's laughter, knotty pine rustic cabins...and of course WATER!

This video is rather long, but oh-so-lovely! Give it a moment and Andrew starts talking about the lifestyle. "You're outdoors more than you're indoors"....

After all of that exercise outdoors, you probably need to eat. How about exploring restaurants in York, Maine? "Best Restaurants", Margaret Mitchell style.

Lunch is served.

Bath, Maine....aka "Tree City USA", did you know that? Now you do! Thanks, Terry Driscoll!

Gayle,

It has been years since we have been to Maine, and as I remember it, it is one of our most beautiful states.  Thanks for sharing Maine with us .

Ron & Alexandra Seigel--I was pretty excited to find that today I was visiting Maine! So very beautiful, and strangely I have never been there, except virtually--but it's totally up my alley!

Michael Jacobs I always love your take on things!

Sandy Padula & Norm Padula, JD, GRI--I grew up swimming in the ST Lawrence, which is one the border of Canada and NY and honestly, the ONLY time the water was warmer was when the air was cooler thatn the water--which hardly EVER happened! FRIGID. I got up on waterskis really fast as a result!

TERRY DRISCOLL some of the best localism posts I find are old ones....I try to look for lots of photos and you had some great localism posts that were more recent, but this one had lots of nice pictures to spotlight Bath. Thank you!

Maine does have a  lot of space, and if along the coast line, they do know how to prepare a lobster the right way as well.

I  love Maine - we spent an incredible time doing the lower to mid coast two summers ago.  Great lobster and seafood, wonderful antiquing and lighthouses and lots of charming houses and fantastic museums in Portland and in Rockland - the rocky coast is beautiful to walk and enjoy.  Thanks for bring us to Maine this week Gayle.  I love that there is a Portland from coast to coast!
