I put my GPS away

I turned off my GPS for a day. I find I rely on it to much. I dont pay attention to where I am going when I use it, it just guides me right to the address I put in.

I found I was not remembering where I had been, or how I got there. I am a Realtor, arent I suppose to know the Neighborhood? Maybe not every house, but I should know my way around, or at least that's what I tell myself.

So I turned of my GPS, got the addresses from the MLS, took a look at the map and cross streets and showed 6 houses this morning without it. I guess its kinda like a security blanket, I dont want my clients to think I dont know the area and if I miss a street and have to turn around, or worse, not even find the listing.

So from now on, I'm going to keep it off when I am local and "relearn" the streets I already know. Sure I'm going to keep it in the car, it's a great tool, but only when really needed.

Hi David, its probably just like math.  The more we use a calculators, the less we can do in our heads.  Have fun getting reacquainted with the neighborhood!
