The REALTOR® Did Not Want To Pay a REALTOR®
My client, who was looking for a place to rent, emailed me a possible place which she had found on realtor.com.
When she was looking on trulia, she was finding ads which were run by the owners and even some scam rentals, but with with realtor.com, I figured that it would be okay.
My belief, which apparently is incorrect, was that all listings which are on realtor.com are fed to it by the various multiple listing services around the country.
With this particular rental property, I went to the multiple list, but it was not there; however, a quick check of the public record indicated that the owner was actually a real estate agent, and I presume, given that her listing was on realtor.com, a REALTOR®.
I then called the number which was on the listing on realtor.com. The person was very willing to talk with me about the property, but when asked about whether they would cooperate (provide a commission) with a REALTOR®, I was told that she did not want to and believed that she would not need to.
While it may be true that she does not need another REALTOR®, I have to question the idea that she is using the benefits of being a Realtor while at the same time seeming to snub her fellow REALTORS®.
