Now that spring is here parents will start to think about summer and what their kids will do to fill those long summer days. You may decide to take a family vacation or you may investigate summer camps or both. There many types of camps in the Nyack area, so relax and see below for a few suggestions.
There is Rockland Center for the Arts Summer Arts Day Camp which is one of my favorites. There is an Open House on Sunday April 26 from 2-5 where parents and kids can tour the grounds, meet the counselors, and ask questions. You can choose either 3 or 4 days a week and either 6 or 8 weeks. There is also the Summer Earth Art Program at the at the Marydell Faith and Life Center located in Upper Nyack. Children ages 7-12 and young teens ages 12-15 have the wonderful opportunity to commune with nature exploring streams, create art,and build forts right at the foot of majestic Hook Mountain. Another nature themed camp is the Nature Place Day Camp located on the campus of the Green Meadow Waldorf School on 200 acres of farmland. For families with musically inclined kids there is the New Band and Choir Summer Camp at Ramapo College located in Mahwah ,NJ just 20 minutes from Nyack. For budding thespians there is the Helen Hayes Youth Theater for ages 5-17 at Riverspace in downtown Nyack which will prepare your kids for a fully staged production.
We also have a cooking camp, fencing camp, and yes even a circus camp to make sure that the kids have a great summer.
