The only constant in our Portland real estate market is change. If you’re looking to buy a home or sell a home in Lake Oswego, West Linn and the Portland Metro area, you should know what to expect. Houses move quickly and buyers should too. Sellers are still sitting in a “position of power” but within reason.

 

A couple weeks ago, I heard of a brand new real estate agent taking in 19 offers on her seller’s Portland real estate listing, a different seasoned agent taking in 7 offers on his Tigard listing and another agent writing up a 5th offer for his buyer because they can’t get a contract accepted even when they offer above list price. Welcome to Portland real estate. Buyers need to be pre-approved if they’re not a cash buyer, be willing to take action quickly, know the market (this is where you need an experienced agent) and have their action plan in place before they view the first property. Seller’s need an experienced Portland real estate agent to help them sort through the multiple offers and buyer contingency periods. Both buyer and seller find the market a bit daunting these days. And the secret is, so do many real estate agents.
