When it comes to buying a home one of the first questions you're going to ask yourself is "How Much Can I Afford," and that's where the tried and true process of getting pre-approved comes in handy.  Pre-approval is the first step in any mortgage process (and you can start the application here,) it basically gives us a head start in understanding how much income you make and how many expenses you have and from that we can figure out a rough estimate of how much of a house you can afford to purchase.

I wish all buyers would get pre-approved before caslling a Realtor, but that is wishful thinking.  It is up to us to educate buyers and help them find good lenders

Yes, in a perfect world, everyone would know to get pre-approved for a home loan first then find a realtor, but that's where a good realtor asks the clients to do that first thing!  We always recommend getting pre-approved first then house shopping!
