Yes, sometimes when I'm doing a consult it would help if I was psychic.
But since I'm not, I have to rely on reading the body language and tone of my clients.
When a client is open with me I can tailor my recommendations to their needs and budget.
However, clients that are selling under duress often want to maintain a sense of privacy. They want the list of people 'in the know' to be as small as possible.
This leaves me at a disadvantage. I have to read the side glances, the comments/snorts, the tension etc.
When furniture or artwork has been removed, I have to figure out if they started preparing the house early or if one of them has moved out.
If a project has been abandoned, I have to find out a) do they plan to finish it, b) is the issue money or c) is the issue divorce. The unfinished project will affect the sale. If I can find some kind of solution, within their means, to finish the project it will help them sell.
Staging has so many levels. It starts with sweat equity and ends in updating/renovating. Putting the Stager 'in the know' will help everyone in the end.
