Lenn- this is so true. What's the first room a buyer will head to when viewing a home? Where does everyone congregate when you have a dinner or party? And it's no longer the room tucked away at the back of the house... shut off from anyone who isn't cooking.

Kathy. Indeed. I had guests for Saturday late lunch and when they got here, they went to the sun room. As soon as I went to the kitchen, they followed.

I have a cozy area in my kitchen properly called a "breakfast area". Most folks call it my little cafe'.

Dick. So much goes on in our kitchens, they have to be "user friendly".

Jay. I shot that photo in a model home in a community off Route 15 north of Leesburg.

Joe. Agreed. I'm ready.

Wayne. Even in small condos, you won't see a galley kitchen in new homes these days.

Hi Lenn Harley the kitchen is the heart of my home....when my children and grandchildren gather at my home, I want to make sure we can all sit together comfortably.... when I renovated my kitchen I designed an island that fits 10 comfortably and 14 not so comfortably.....I have an island that is 6' x 8' with storage (4' x 6') underneath for large pans and large mixing bowls.... it was the best addition to the kitchen....even on holidays, no one wants to use the dining room....they'd all rather sit around the island!!!! it's their call....

Barbara. I do have a sun room off the kitchen which folks like because it looks out over a large grassy area. However, when I built my home, I added 5 feet to the entire back of the house, including the kitchen. Made a huge difference.
