"March in like a lion ... out like two lions" - Ocean City, New Jersey
There are very few locations where "real estate" is so closely linked to the weather as it is here in South Jersey in general, and Ocean City in particular. The "resort market" is always linked to the weather ... too hot, too cold, to far away, too closely linked to the ocean impact on the town, too much this and that, too much flooding, and more.
Well, we continue to squeak by here in early spring knocking out some sales, a lot of rentals, etc. However, we are not as active as one hopes as we reach the end of March. Hopefully, the month of April will be a much more active one for sales here in the #1 location in Cape May County.
Where can you find a barrier island anywhere with a great family athmosphere, a library facility that is one of the top five or ten in the state of New Jersey, a police department that is anywhere and everywhere all of the time. I appreciate that a police car goes by our house (only a two block street) twice a day or more. It is a safe community with a lot going for it.
Wrapping this up, Ocean City is really two or three different kinds of community: a major summer ocean and boardwalk one with about 150,000 coming and going. It has a great fall and spring population with a lot of second home owners coming down weekends to check thi.ngs out. Finally, there s the winter popularion (like my wife and yours truly) enjoying the quiet time sitting by the fireplace reading a good book, and going out for a quiet dinner from Ocean City to Somers Point to Margate to Cape May with no crowds.
