I'm working with a "Certified Health & Wellness Coach" ... Ocean City, NJ
So why did I decide to go in this direction as I enter my 7th decade? A good question ... and hopefully a better answer. My main reason was because I had already formed a somewhat working relationship with "the coach" ... who happens to be my daughter-in-law. And, at various times, we talked about some questions that I asked her. Recently, I decided to move along into a more formal relationship.
It is completely handled via a telephone, emails, and an occasional mailing. I elected to do a six-month plan to improve my eating habits, adjust to some minor health issues, to decide to lost about 15 pounds getting me to a desired weight. So I am handling the exercise goals by continuing to play "doubles tennis" all year long, about 1.5-2 hours, inside in the winter months and outside the rest of the year. I also have a walking program with and without my wife enabling me to maintain and often lower my weight. I also bike a bit during the summer months at the shore.
I also plan to extend my "coach relationship" by going another six months, but working with my coach "every other month" simply to maintain my decisions and goals. Along with all insights gained from the experience, I want to have a somewhat ongoing relationship so that I can ask occasional questions along the way.
Having had average-to-better health throughout my life, I hit a major obstacle about 4 years ago ... resulting in a very fast quadruple by-pass surgery, my first visit to the hospital ... and via a helicopter. Wow ... a significant wake-up call. And this new effort is a second effort to "do the right things."
Let's call this more of a motivational blog as opposed to an effort to get my daughter-in-law more business. However, if anyone wants to do a follow-up with me; I would certainly be willing to talk or email with you passing on my personal recommendation of my "certified health and wellness coach.
