Midd Tasting Trail: Spring Meltdown at Woodchuck Cidery

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Great American Dream Realty

Vermont has long been known as a destination for it's craft beers and microbreweries. However, hard cider has been on the rise in an up and coming sweep across Vermont. Woodchuck Cider is leading this revolution and has my personal seal of approval for the best cider in Vermont.

A popular adult beverage corridor has been accumulating in the Middlebury area and is deemed the Midd Trail (short for Middlebury Trail). This corridor is now home to five local brewers who will all be participating in the Spring Meltdown at Woodchuck Cidery this Saturday from noon til 5.

This free event will feature samples from Woodchuck Cider, Lincoln Peak Winery, Otter Creek Brewing, Drop-in Brewing and Appalachian Gap Distillery. Mach's Brick Oven Pizza will also be on hand for the event.

The event will be in a farmer's market style atmosphere with several booths for sampling products as well as purchasing related items such as beer mugs, wine glasses, t-shirts and other items.

Tour the cidery while you visit. Woodchuck offers twenty five ciders with twenty on tap. You may select to try any of the twenty ciders with the first four samples being free and each four ounce sample after that being just $1. There will be a punch card to complete as you move from table to table. Fill your punch card and you will qualify for a drawing to win one of three gift baskets.

Great American Dream Realty loves promoting Vermont businesses and events and hopes to see you there!

This sounds like a fun event. I think I would like the Woodchuck cider you mentioned and would try several other ciders.

JoAnn, the pink is my favorite. It is brewed with grape skins which give it a pink hue and also has a green apple flavor to it.

Wow!  Those red roofs would be hard to miss in any season. Not much of a beer fan though.

That was a great event today. I wound up tasting seventeen of the twenty five flavors that Woodchuck has (I was familiar with some of the others). That is the equivalent of four pints of cider over an afternoon (in slow moderation). It was a very enjoyable event and I got to talk with some nice people while listening to good music. Favorite ciders of the day were pumpkin, cherry, chocolate raspberry and winter chill which is casked in oak. I sampled three of the wines, but none of the beers or spirits. Will save those for another time.

Hi Lisa,  That sounds like a place I would want to check out if I were there.  I just realized, I just wrote a blog on Middlebury, Indiana and discovered he was the first settler there.  He named the town Middlebury, because he came from Middlebury, VT.
