How Many #1 Realtors Can There Be?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Properties

I'm amazed that Realtors still market themselves as "Top Agent," Number One Listing Agent," Circle of Excellence Stand-Out," and on and on.  While I understand and endorse marketing is very important in our business, I also understand a few other things.  First and foremost, Sellers and Buyers think we make too much money for what we do.  Now, we all know that's far from true. I remember a friends of mine, a reporter, talked about trailing a Realtor for two days to get an idea what we actually do in a day. She told me not only was she exhausted by the time they wrapped up, but she knew she would never consider selling homes as a career.  But, for most people perception is reality, so if our target audience thinks we make too much money, why in the world would you want to keep shining the spotlight on yourself? I tell my clients THEY are Number 1!  And before I present their homes to the market, I dress them up so the public knows they're #1!

Putting our accomplishments out there is important way to stand out among our competition, but tacking #1 on to our profile is, well, tacky.  And, it's often untrue.

Your clients will know you're #1 when they watch you work.

Kate Conover I loved reading this blog post of yours. I think the public is smarter than to believe all the 'Puffing' from wanna be top dogs!
