Real Estate Down Time:
- The inspector called and said he's going to be two hours late.
- You've finished with your 11:00 clients and have an hour to kill before the 3:00 clients.
- You've got a closing at 2:30 but you're already done with your 10:00 appointment.
So what's an agent to do?
Many agents we know will go to the office during this down time. They can catch up on filing, make a few phone calls, even write an Active Rain blog or two.
NO! Don't do it!
Let me explain. We love most of our office mates. They are interesting, fun, hard working, creative individuals and we thoroughly enjoy spending time with them. But they are our competitors. They are not going to call us when they want to sell their homes and they are never going to refer business to us. There are no potential leads in our office.
Don't spend your down time surrounded by your competitors.
Here's a short list of more productive things to do during your down time:
- Grab a lap top and head to the local coffee shop and do your Active Rain blogging there. Strike up conversations with everyone.
- Hit the park. Take a walk. Take photos for your next blog post.
- Door knock a new neighborhood, introducing yourself and handing out business cards.
- Visit the local shops and introduce yourself.
