No Trip to Death Valley is Complete Without Mosaic Canyon

The one thing I have discovered since coming to Death Valley is there are more things to see and do than a person can probably accomplish in 5 or 6 trips to this remarkable National Park. Yet, we're trying to squeeze in as many attractions and serious photography as possible. Of course, everybody goes to Badwater Basin, because it's the one thing we can remember and have heard about before, but if you do nothing else in Death Valley, make sure you see Mosaic Canyon.

This incredible natural phenomena is not the result of a glacier, although you might be tempted to believe so, it's actually created by water, sand and silt pounding and polishing the rocks. What an amazing place that is, Elizabeth!  That first picture with the mosaic patterning in the rock is interesting.  What's the temperature there?  I'm suspecting it's warm, even though it's late March!

Lise, you might find this difficult to believe, but we left our cats at home with our house sitters, and all of them played poker for 5 days straight. I'm sorry but the cats lost our bed and we came home to sleep on the floor.

Chris Ann Cleland It's about an hour flight to Las Vegas and another 2 hours to drive. I suppose we could have driven from Sacramento but that would eat up a lot of precious time.

Myrl Jeffcoat It was in the low 70s to upper 90s. One day it topped 100. Early morning hikes are good and at higher elevations, like where the Racetrack Player is located, is very agreeable weatherwise. It's warmer than it should be at this time of year.
