Over the past 30 years, Denver has really grown into it's own as a culinary gem, and now, the ramen craze has also come to Denver! It's worth a trip to Katsu Ramen to see how it's done! My friend Marilou and I went to Katsu Ramen today for lunch. All I can say is WOW! This place is the bomb! Two different friends recommended Katsu Ramen in Aurora.
This place is an absolute treasure! It isn't big at all with only 50 seats, so expect a wait, BUT it's worth it! The culinary powerhouse at Katsu Ramen is Chef Shinsuke Hirao who has 18 years of experience with ramen in Osaka, Japan. There are several different varieties of ramen including chicken, pork, miso as well as a chilled ramen. The portions are huge, and come in gorgeous ceramic bowls.
Marilou and I started our meal with the fried chicken appetizer which arrived at our table hot and crispy with a dipping sauce that was super good. I was recommended the Chashu bowl which is tender pork belly served over rice. I ordered a combination lunch which served far more food than I could eat. Included in the combo was a ramen bowl, a rice bowl and pork gyoza (some of the best gyoza I have ever had).
Along with ramen, at Katsu Ramen you can find, gyoza, curry, teriyaki and rice bowls. in my humble opinion, Katsu Ramen is one of those places that probably doesn't have much that isn't yummy on the menu. So, here are the facts:
