World Backup Day is March 31, 2015! Are You All Backed Up!

Tuesday, March 31st is World Backup Day!

OK….. raise your hand if you do not have a system in place for backing up Are you backed up!your important data, whether it’s on your laptop, desktop, smartphone or tablet.

Now, raise your hand if you’ve ever had your computer, etc crash!

World Backup Day is a reminder that there are apps, services and equipment that can protect your data and/or photos.

I’ve used Carbonite for years and it is worth the $59.99 annual fee.  It’s not just for backing up though, you can access your files from any Internet connection.

When I first heard of Carbonite, I mentioned it to a friend, and she immediately signed up.  She had not had it for a month when her computer went bonkers and she lost everything.  Thankfully, she was able to retrieve all of her data.

computerThere are many other forms of backup and you can go to PC Magazine for a list of the Best Online Backup Services for 2015.  I’m looking into iDrive just for fun.

If you already have an external hard drive for your backup, it’s still good to add an additional layer of protection with something off site.

Did you know?

~30% of People have never backed up

~113 phones are lost or stolen every MINUTE!

~29% of Disasters are caused by accident

~1 in 10 computers are infected with a virus each month.

(Stats in PC Magazine.)

World Backup Day is March 31!  Get Started NOW!!

Now this is a great reminder my computer wiz has told me for years to back up on two external drives since it is now when the first one will fail and if that is your only back up you are in deep do do.

Kathy, NO. My hand is not raised. Twice already I have suffered hard drive filures and I keep saying "I gotta do this" but I don't.

But you got me thinking about if again.

Thanks for the Carbonite endorsement... I've seen commercials on tv but didn't know if I should take the plunge.  I have tons of pics on mine and it would be wise to back it on up!!

I am proud to say that I have a good backup system in place!!!  A friend of mine that is tech savvy had me purchase a backup drive, then another backup drive to backup the first backup drive, haha.

Susan- me too!  I tried setting a timer for 1 hour and that way at least I can clean out some of the files. Susan Haughton

Dorie-I love the security of knowing my information is backed up but yes, i too need to clean out some files.

Nina- I am too.  Whether it's for work, personal or all of those photos that we have it's good that they're backed up.

Sheila- check out PC magazine's list.  There are some good ones there and they'r rated.

Donald- I agree.  If you rely on only one source for backup then you could find yourself with a big "oops" moment.  Donald Urschalitz

Jeffrey- trust me... you should see some of the days that are out there.

Bill- trust me, something like Carbonite or whatever you choose, is so easy you'll wonder what took you so long to sign up.  Bill Roberts

Capt Wayne- Good luck and don't put it off. Captain Wayne Rowlett

Noah- It may never happen to you but why take the chance, right! Noah Seidenberg

Brian- it's true, that's what you have to do.

Beth- ouch!!!!   That would hurt!   Beth Atalay

I'm also a big fan of Carbonite . . . . been using it for a couple of year.  I will be setting up mirror image . . . . and back up on portable hard-drive as part of my Carbonite software.

Good luck and success.

Morning Kathy I was a Carbonite user for  a few years.  Now I use Dropbox.  If the file or whatever is not there I don't care if it's lost or not.  I do however need another back up system and will check out the article after I'm finished playing in the Rain
