Habitually creating good habits!

Being a mortgage guy, its been interesting how you drift from focusing on different sources of business every now and then. This could be calling leads three times a week, to fitting in networking groups, to obtaining referral sources. I have found a couple ways to break old habits and venture into working new sources each week for your business.

 

1. Calling. We all do this atleast 8 hours a day if not more. Calling is the best way to get out there and make a connection. We are all hard wired to answer the phone and you never know what lurks behind the next phone call. I was cold calling realtors this week and got two referrals in one hour. :-) The trick is to break up your day by calling different business sources. This could be insurance agents, lenders, realtors, cpas, attorneys, accountants, credit unions, etc. Just like stocks, this will diversify your business stream and eventually earn you more business :-).

 

2. Set reasonable goals. Creating good habits is about starting small and working big! Set a goal to call 5 new types of referral sources each day and making 10 contacts. Do this for a couple weeks. After that increase it to 15, then to 20. Before you know it, you've expanded your reach further than you originally thought.

 

3. Stay in front! How do you get referrals? You stick your head out constantly and pray your name gets mentioned on a regular basis! Set up auto emails twice a month, call each week, text if reasonable. I will always email or call realtors on friday mornings and evenings to let them know I'm available during the weekend. I'll even text the ones I know. Remember facebook messenger, its been a blessing for me.
