These warts are not the ugly and round blister-looking protrusions on the subcutaneous layers of the skin. They are not even visible to the eyes because they litter the cavernous sections of your brain. They just lie there quietly until you start pinching them relentlessly like that itching temptation to scratch and squeeze the red and bumpy pimple on your nose.
Worry warts are annoying clumps in the brain crannies. So once you invoke the worry warts, they will start the pesterings. They will keep you listless and restless.
When you wake up in the morning, you will have to put extra effort to pull yourself away from the bed to begin the day's regimen because your worry warts are no longer slumbering. You drag your sluggish body to fetch yourself a cup of coffee for that much-needed dose of caffeine.
While sipping your hot beverage, you see a cobweb dangling at the corner wall. You start feeling guilty. It is time to do some deep cleaning. After that thought, you put your cup in the sink and gaze at the black stains around the garbage disposal opening. You whisper to yourself, "I need to scrub this today."
So far, there are already two things bogging down your mind from the time you wake up till you finish your cup of coffee.
While straddling between the staircases, you can't stop noticing dogs's hair on the carpet. At this point, your head spins as you try to replay the 3 things you want done today.
Your feet land on the second floor and head towards the office. On the desk lie one pile of paper bills and another bunch of folders waiting to be organized. You start biting at your nails as you walk back and forth the bedrooms aisle.
Then you decide to sit down and go over the folders. Before you can open one of the folders, you look away from them and stare at the bills. You pull the pile of bills at the center of the desk and flip the pages. Your mind is now revolting due to the tension sparked by the cobweb, the stain on the sink, the dogs' hair on the stairs carpet, the unorganized folders and the bills to pay.
Your phone rings while you rub your hand against your eyebrow. The caller is one of your clients who wants to see a vacant house today. Your day suddenly goes disarray. You are worried that you can't accomplish all the tasks you assigned yourself. Because you let your worrying take over, the worry warts' are in revelry. They are resuscitated from their once vegetative-like stage.
Consequently, their rejuvenated state reduces your productivity and efficiency level. You allow the worry warts to control your mental faculties which render you almost completely useless. The worry warts consume your entire being. What a quandary!
Even life's little worries can ruin your whole day. If you let them rule, you will sulk in misery. If you seize the moment (carpe diem) ---and learn to live life instead of merely existing, happiness will be hovering. Take it one day at a time.
I have had worry warts. But I learn how to freeze them before they freeze me.
