Sometimes your bank will let you "skip a payment" over the holidays. Be certain they don't mark it 30 days late.
If you have student loans and they going into deferment it generally takes 90 days for that to happen. Pay your payments through this process or you will end up with a rolling 90 day late payment. That means it will show 90 days late forever.

If you pay it off every month it looks like to the credit bureau that you never use the card. If you keep high balances the credit bureau is going to think you don't use credit wisely. The answer? Keep very small balances on your credit cards. If you want to raise your score very fast keep a $25 balance.

There may be times that you really feel that you were wronged. If it was a significant amount of money you may want to battle it. But the little stuff isn't worth the battle in relationship to your credit score. Sometimes humbly paying that $100 bill can save you thousands down the road.
