If you have an interest in a variety of art by over 300 local artists, the Sprng 2015 showing of "Art at The Mill" starts April 24th and ends May 10th. Burwell-Morgan Mill in Milltown VA was restored and is maintained by Clarke County Historic Association. The artwork is all original, and includes painting, drawing, sculpture, etching, woodworking, and glass. The mill is full of antiques as well, and there is plenty of space on the grounds for a picnic. Locke county store is just across the street if you don't want to bring your own snacks, food, and drink.
There is more, but you can go to www.clarkehistory.org to read more. Just click on the "Art at the Mill" page.
From Lovettsville, it's about a 50 minute drive. 287N to 7W to 340S at Berryville out to a L on Bishop Meade Dr which will take you to Milltown. Closest historic town is Boyce which is maybe 10 minutes S of the Mill. It's a nice drive in the country, lots of beautful scenery, and pleasant way to spend an afternoon or day.
