10:45 pm...ready for bed tonight and the doorbell rings. I'm all ready for bed just watching the final minutes of the evening news. Then the doorbell. The police are outside my home. I open the door and Officer Johnson of the Campton Hills Police Department says that there is an alarm going off at hour house. We were at home so it wasn't going off as we would have obviously been aware of this. So I go out and walk with the officer. Officer Johnson was professional, courteous and non-pretentious. There's a slight drizzle and we're going through mud and muck and he's just trapsing through the stuff as if it's another walk in the park. It's dark and dreary and I tell Officer Johnson that I hear something over there. He flashes the flashlight and sees nothing. After 10 minutes we get teh alarm shut off. We make small talk and walk back to my house together. He's heading back to work thereafter. I walk my house. We say goodnight. I, however, don't really feel like sleeping just yet. I'm kind of wired now wondering who was next door doing what. Thanks Officer Johnson for your help even if I won't be able to sleep just yet.

Hi Larry-Thanks for your kind words about a cop doing their job! My husband is a 30 year veteran cop, and compliments are rare, especially on blogs. Have to tell him to read this in the AM. Goes to show, never know who is reading, impressed me. You can got to sleep now, knowing the Officer Johnsons are out there. Thanks!

Karen Anne - It turned out that it was a crane with a key left in it that set off the alarm.
