When working with residents relocating to Lake Charles and meeting clients moving to Southwest Louisiana I am frequently asked about "Things to Do in Lake Charles". Visitors quickly fall in love with our cajun food, festivals and traditions. The people of Lake Charles have always known the value of locally sourced ingredients and down-home cooking in Southwest Louisiana which sets us apart with culinary delights.
Our weather in Southwest Louisiana is mild so outside entertaining spaces can be enjoyed throughout the year and area popular with with many homeowners
Holidays are special anytime and its not uncommon to find family and friends gathered together enjoying sampling the designated cook's cajun specialties. With the abundance of of our streams, rivers and lakes nearby seafood is not hard to find and you can easily find yourself invited to a fish fry or crawfish boil! This is especially true during the Lenten Season.
Boiling crawfish takes some work, you must have the right tools and supplies with a butane burner, pot and the right spices! Eating the crawfish will take some work too, pinching off the heads and peeling the tails but the flavor is amazing! Everyone has their own technique you can view your favorite in the video below!
Crawfish are so popular, Lake Charles even has a Crawfish Festival! You can enjoy one of the spiciest events at the Crawfish Festival on April 10, 2015 .
I enjoy sharing with new residents and visitors a glimpse of Lake Charle living and Southwest Louisiana lifestyle.
