You didn't spell the name of our town correctly.  It's OLYMPIA

Hi Sandy,

I have Puyallup & Sequim down, but you lost me, a WA native with Sequalitchew.

Dan, can you imagine how hard it was for me, a German native, to figure out how to pronounce those towns?

Mary and Penny,

Thanks for pointing out the typo and for reading my blog post. Much appreciated.

Sandy, As a fellow resident of the Pacific Northwest, I can relate to many of your observations.  I've driven through Olympia many times on my way to visit my wife's family in the Tacoma and Seattle areas, but never explored the city itself.  I do look forward to seeing the state capitol as I'm heading north on I-5.  Thank you for participating in the ActiveRain contest.

Rick, When you stop in Olympia to see the Capitol, don't miss the Farmer's Market and the Board Walk downtown.

I love Washington state, but you folks just have to move on without me when you start pronouncing your place names.  Unique, that I'll grant you.

Beautiful country.

Spoken like a true Northwesterner :O) Sandy Nelson ... I enjoy conversations with friends talking about how easy it is to spot those that are "not" from around these parts... They have umbrellas in the rain. Fun read! Thanks...
