For this blog, I want to discuss preparing your home for sale.

There is a lot that is involved with selling your home. To get it sold, it is important to first choose the right time to list your home and have it appraised. You will want to list at a time when there is a higher concentration of buyers looking for a new home. This is generally during the spring and summer months but can vary from state to state. The goal is to get the best closing price for your home and not have it sit on the market for too long; especially since you probably want to purchase a new home yourself! If you list your home at the wrong time or do not prepare it well, it can sit on the market for a while which means you may have to lower the price a few times before you get offers that stick. This not only delays your home search, but you may end up getting less than the home is worth. It is important to list it correctly from the start.

Once you choose the best time to list your home, then it’s time prepare it for showings! The number one thing you want to keep in mind when preparing your home for sale is the home will no longer be yours, it will belong to someone else. The things that make it home to you won’t necessarily be the same things that would make someone else feel at home. It helps to look at it with a fresh set of eyes and a new perspective.
