SpaceX is launching another rocket on Monday. This time it will be Elon Musk’s reusable Falcon 9 rocket. You may remember a few months ago a rocket was launched from the Cape and SpaceX attempted to land the rocket on a floating barge off the coast in the Atlantic. Things did not go well and the barge was pretty well broken upon landing.
Well, SpaceX will once again make an attempt to land the reusable rocket after a trip to the International Space Station. I personally am really cheering for this success simply because of all of the space garbage that is currently in our orbit. It isn’t good enough that we are trashing Earth, but unfortunately, we are also trashing space with garbage.
SpaceX’s reusable rocket can really be an asset in this area. Not only will be help with space garbage, but it will also greatly reduce the cost of reaching orbit. Elon Musk estimates that the costs could be reduced to 25% of current levels.
The launch on Monday is set for 4:33pm Eastern from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
