4 Tips to Sell Your Home This Spring

The housing market in Upstate SC is heating up.  However we are desperately low on homes to sell! That makes this an even better spring to sell your home!! While it is somewhat of a seller’s market due to the low inventory, today’s buyers are more picky than ever! Homes still need to be priced well and looking their best for this market. Here are a few tips if you are thinking of selling your home this spring:

Curb Appeal – Your home’s first impression is the most important. It can determine whether or not a buyer even makes an appointment to view the interior. Freshen up your mulch and other landscaping, remove cluttered items from your porches and patios, consider painting your entry areas and your garage doors. All these things make a huge first impression for a buyer!

Thoroughly Clean – don’t just dust, but declutter all rooms AND closets. Remember you will be moving soon, so go ahead and pack up all items you don’t use regularly.  Minimize each room as much as you can to show how large your home really is. Make sure your closets and storage areas aren’t packed to the ceiling; this makes buyers feel like your home doesn’t have enough storage space.

Depersonalize – Take down all personal photos and also any photos that could be distracting for “other” reasons. Buyer’s need to be able to picture themselves living there and have a hard time doing that if all they see are photos of your family and friends. Also remove all your personal magazines, books, collectible items, etc…. 

Get Those Small Projects Done – While you may not get your money back for major renovations, finishing some small projects is a great idea.  Painting some rooms, re-grouting tile, and cleaning carpets can all make a huge difference in the appearance of the home. If you have any projects you have started, make sure to finish them before you market your home. (big or small)
