Default Industry Leaders at the REOMAC Summit in Dallas 4/2015
The default servicing industry has many conferences or summits during the year but one that I try not to miss is the REOMAC summit. These real estate conferences are where the idea's of the industry come together to work on the latest trends, policy and news to provide the best possible outcome for all involved in the default real estate business.
Remember just a few short years ago, a homeowner in default on their mortgage loan could sell the home short, not have any taxes to pay on the monies refinanced above the original purchase price or where afforded new low interest financing through the government programs put into place to help the homeowner stay in the home.
If a home is taken back by the bank by foreclosure, the former homeowner must now make a transition into new living arrangements. As specialist in this field of real estate the agent will help the former owner in the process which is not easy for someone when losing a home. Even financial assistance is used to help relocate the former owner into new housing. 
During the 3 day summit we look at the current state of the economy and where it could be headed in a proactive way to look at how to best serve the communities we serve.
The best advise I could give a homeowner having trouble making the payments on his/her obligation would be to contact your lender, see what kind of programs if any are available at the time you could use for help.
If that doesn't work, contact a specialist such as myself. We will look at the options you may have...sometimes the best option is to punt and start over. Time passes quickly, many that were foreclosed upon years ago are now once again happy homeowners.
