Photos of Yosemite in Winter

Spent a few days in Yosemite a couple of months ago.  Went in the winter time to get storm clouds, snow and any other interesting effects that I could find.  However, no storms, no show, no rain and damn little water.  Ended up restricted to mostly reflection shots.

Climbers asleep half way up El Capitan.  I had my 400mm with a 1.6 extender to get this one.  If you look carefully you can see ropes hanging from pitons above the upper left of the shot and other ropes hanging down from the tents.

Mike - Amazing photos, even without the snow and storm clouds. Yosemite is some place I have always wanted to visit.

Mike West - Amazing photos!  I think my favorite is the first one with the band of color at the top of the mountains and in the reflection!

El Capitan is now even more well known due to the tragic outcome of the massive rockfall in September 2017.

Nature will do what nature will do.
