Lemonade Day Workshops at Concord Mall Saturday April 18 at 9 am

Lemonade Day started in the Houston Texas area in 2007 as a teaching experience for children.  Groups of volunteer's coached, taught, and encouraged children on how to start, own and operate their own business---a lemonade stand!

The objective of Lemonade Day is to empower youth to take ownership of their lives and become productive members of society.  The business leaders, social advocates, volunteers and forward thinking citizens of tomorrow.  Their words, not mine! Today Houston's Lemonade Day has grown by leaps and bounds and has spread throughout many states and across the country.

Elkhart began participating in Lemonade Day in 2013 and grown the number of participants each year.

Saturday, April 18th at 9 am Concord Mall is hosting a FREE workshop for kids to learn about Lemonade Day.  They will be picking up a backpack, and students can participate in a workshop that will focus on:

  • Writing a Business Plan
  • Reviewing the Workbook
  • Learning how to secure financing
  • Learn to give back to community
  • Financial security
  • how to set up a savings account
  • setting financial goals for future spending
  • build an awesome Lemonade Stand

Evelyn if I were closer I would participate in Lemonade Day Workshops tomorrow.  You never know when the mortgage business might go bad and I might need another career to fall back on :)

Hi Evelyn Johnston , I remember last year, when these kids had their lemonade stands all over town and they were very proud of what they were accomplishing.

This is a great opportunity for our young people to get an early start on learing how to run a business. I use to have lemonade stands regularly. I loved it.

That is back to the basics and something the children can relate to. I know it will be a big success.

Evelyn, I'm a huge proponent of  supporting the entrepeneurial spirit!! I did my first "business" at age 13 when I sold Current stationery door-to-door so that I could buy it myself for a much cheaper price. I never looked back and it has served me well. It's not for everyone, but the fact that this has swept across the country gives people the opportunity to not be afraid to step out and create their own futures. In the downturn in the economy many went back to school or decided to start their own businesses. Love that!!

Evelyn- what a great idea!  I just hope they do not all do the lemonade stand on the same day!  Those poor kids would have a ton of competition!
