I'm seeing a lot of new clients who are planning to retire in Nashville. Some have already purchased a home that will serve as a second home until they are finished the the final stage of the work career, but they are already claiming Tennessee as their primary residence. The reasons are many, but mainly it has to do with family living in the area, mainly children and grandchildren, no income tax, and a moderate climate.
The cost of living is lower in Tennessee than most major areas, especially compared to the north east part of the united states. Property taxes are much lower than most populated areas and energy costs are also low. All of these add up to a very affordable place to live.
Several clients I know bought homes here and just the taxes savings alone pay their mortgage.
But most come to be close to family, and I hope that never changes.
