Should YOU Care??
Absolutely if you are in the business of being found.
April 21st 2015 - D-day for change to the Mobile Friendly Ranking Algorithm
Do YOUR clients find you from mobile devices?? Mine do. Since 28% are on mobile and 15% of my clients use a tablet to surf my site, then I would be crazy not to pay attention to this.
Google tells each and every one of us how to market. If you have your own website then hopefully by now it is mobile friendly. A ton of conversation all over the internet screaming to "get ready" as the the day is coming. Today marks the day folks. If you are already mobile friendly then you should be fine. If you are not... well, who knows where you will rank in the SERPS for your key words on mobile devices today.
If you haven't tested your site, you may want to look here and see your results.
If you are only on ActiveRain, then you have no worries as they do have it under control. If you run your own website or a third party site, then you need to make sure that you are mobile friendly. While none of us know yet how much the penalty will be it will probably be hurting today. Fixing the issues can be costly as it could entail a new, more user friendly template.
So the question of "should you care?" will be answered in the days to come. If your previous users were finding you on their mobile devices and they no longer see you in the SERPS you may very well take a hit. Those that live in areas that only use a desktop computer may not see any negative results.
The data is out and today begins the new results. I am glad that my site is responsive and mobile friendly. I tested ALL my pages and they are working perfectly. YAY. Google is ever changing and for sure there is more to come. Internet marketing is something that is never stagnant.
Adjust or get left behind. I hear that this feature is to roll out over the next few days. Apparently it is not an on and off switch but a gradual change over a few days or a few weeks. Let's hope for the best!!
