Until I discovered the value of the GIVE and TAKE system, I remained in a state of missing something which I couldn't quite put my finger on. You see we all have this built-in drive to go out there (?) and win, gather, claim, and get our wants and needs and not stop until we have them. Some don't stop at all
MY FELLOW RATS? lol
It even ups the excitement of the journey when you see others doing the same thing. You then up your game and they, seeing you do that, up there's, and we now have what they call the rat race. The system to get ahead is there for a reason, but don't lose your head in trying to get ahead
BALANCE
Whats the secret or balance that helps it all make sense and allows us to stay closer to a human than a rat when running this race? The GIVE dynamic literally gives balance to the TAKE. Without this proper alignment and dynamic to spread the adventure, you operate off center or at a tilt...within the self
WINNING ALL THE TIME?... HMM
Predatory behavior in and of itself has its functions and its purposes, but hanging out in it too long allows one to lose the very nature that allows one to enjoy what one went to great lengths to obtain. Staying in that mode makes you a good provider, gatherer and player, but at what cost? I am not talking money here either
HIDDEN VALUE
Being first in line, getting great deals, having good fortune come your way and being out right lucky feels and is good. But consider this. The other fellow wants that too. What is wrong with taking a little time out to make sure that some other person goes home with the goods every once in a while. You have yours. Allowing someone else to step-up has hidden rewards that exceed the process you're in
DREAM JACKET
I remember buying a beautiful expensive one of a kind jacket in another state that wherever I went it got compliments. It felt and looked good and I got quite attached to it for so many reasons. One day, I left it behind in a restaurant and inquired the next day for it.
LET IT GO
No one had seen it or reported it. I continued to check in but to no avail. Someone else recognized this beauty and considered it their good fortune. I stopped and looked at it from their point of view. They now can enjoy this wonderful jacket. I had my time. I let it go and I felt good too. Strange but true
GAIN & LOSS
When I find money, I rejoice. When I lose it, I panic but I would do well to remember that the give and take of gain and loss just continues to make the rounds. Perhaps going with the flow is worth looking into? If not, it makes for a bitter person at some point who is not at rest. After all, it is all on loan...Yes?
VALUES UNKNOWN
When someone else is prospering, I am happy for them. WHY? Its their turn to do so and let it be so! I have had turns and will have more too. Now, I get to practice another form of joy and happiness of seeing someone else do well. Don't under-estimate that experience as it is priceless at times
THE GIVING GENE REWARDS
You can give time, money, goods and services just like you can receive them only when giving, it literally gives you more enjoyment. I notice this when I BBQ or bake. I actually like seeing people enjoy what I enjoy and I make sure they have their plenty of it. It remains priceless and joyful to me to do this
ROD SERLING'S TWILIGHT ZONE
My closing thought centers around a Twilight Zone episode where a fellow who dies awakens to find himself in a situation where he can have anything he wants. At first, he is very busy, excited and immersed in what he calls heaven. After a while, he notices that he never loses, stops gaining or is without constant pleasure. It becomes so annoying that it turns mundane and he then resents it
HEAVEN OR HELL
His final take on it all? He doesn't want to be in heaven for he is very unhappy to have and keep having and never getting a satisfaction or closure from the "gimme" and "got it" gene. He requests hell and it is then that he is told...you are in hell....
The moral of the story? Without the balance, life remains out of whack, off center and without joy but some would disagree I am sure
