You've heard the similar sounding line about the chicken. Now I have a compulsion to want to get to the other side. The other side of Indiantown Road that is, the South side, it'll take you to #250 West Indiantown Rd.. There you'll find the Old Florida Bar & Grill. Actually, you will likely hear the music before you see it and when you do pull around back to park and enjoy the experience.
Anyone who knows me also knows that I've eaten at a lot of fine restaurants over many years and even though I'm usually more comfortable with simple fare I've found that numbers of stars and ratings never insure the perfect meal.
Last week we sought out a place that was comfortable and convenient which we hadn't explored previously. The main drag through Jupiter is Indiantown Road and the bistro atmosphere visible along our travels brought us to the Old Florida Bar & Grill. I ordered a simple hamburger with cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and onion. The better half ordered some fish & chips.
Live music played in the background outside and we sat inside. When my meal came the first thing I noticed was the bun. It glistened with a shiny egg washed surface. The tomato was a perfect combination of size, meatiness and juiciness. Lettuce trimmed to only reveal the suppleness and ripeness of it's leaves. The onion garnish was a nearly wafer thin Vidalia whose aroma gently nipped at the nasal senses. The bacon was thick but not too thick and the smoked flavor emanating from it was unlike any before.
The meat of the matter, ground chuck I believe, arrived medium, exactly as ordered. Barely compressed with just enough pressure to give shape, it was like no patty I had ever seen. At first, I questioned whether having avocado on my burger was a wise decision. After the initial bite that answer was revealed. I retreated to my burger World and left the music, the restaurant, people ( including Vicki) and all other physical elements behind. I was gently prodded to return by our waiter, Joel, who asked if anything else was needed. I signaled no with a twist of my head and returned to devour my new found treat.
When you go, tell Chas. that Kevin sent you! It won't bring you any discount or free appetizer but I guarantee that you'll have an exquisite meal in one of Jupiter's newest, most entertaining and friendliest restaurants. ENJOY!
