Stress-free summer travel!

Industry Observer

Summer is coming up! Who is excited?!  Sure that many of you are planning to travel so here are some travel planning tips that will save you time and stress this year!

Tip# 1 - Book dates and purchase tickets early.

Early selecting of dates and desired seats makes travel much less stressful. The best deals on summer airline tickets are historically offered approximately 3 1/2 months before a departure date, as airlines attempt to determine their demand for summer travel.

Tip# 2 - Make sure your documents are in order.

Is your passport valid? You need to have a valid passport for the duration of your trip. Do you need a visa for your destination? If yes, what is the application process and requirements. Are there restrictions for length of stay that apply to you? All these are things to consider when planning your trip.

Tip# 3 - Know your limits.

Pack light and know baggage limits. Travel light to your destination so you will have enough baggage allowance when you are returning from your shopping spree to avoid the dreaded exorbitant overweight fees. Be careful, some airlines now charge for a second piece of checked luggage. Do not limit your inquiries to your main carrier. Find out from the airline on each leg of your journey what their individual baggage policy and limit is so you won't get stuck at a foreign airport with excess luggage that you do not know what to do with!

Knowing your physical limits is also good advice, especially for seniors.

Some of us need to take it easy for a day after intensive activities.
