Is this a nursery?

Good evening everyone-While I was out working in the garden this week I had one lady pull in the driveway and then back out and stop where I was working. She asked me, Is this a nursery? Somebody told me there was a nursery over in this vicinity. NOPE. Not here. I told them where the ones in the area were but this was definitely not a nursery. This is my garden.

A few days later I had a couple stop their car while I was working in the same area and ask me the same question.  Most people when they drive by just gawk. I have had a few actually stop and compliment me on the beautiful garden.  That I appreciate.

I guess the size of my garden/bird sanctuary has drawn attention in the area.  I am not too keen on having attention drawn to myself but I guess my garden is unusual around this neck of the woods.

So if I get another car stop and ask Is this a nursery? I will tell them what I told the people who stopped and inquired. NOPE. This is my 1/2 acre garden. Maybe I should tell them what my friend Gary Woltal calls it. Virginia's #1 tourist attraction.

I smile when he calls it that because it is a far cry from that but what it is and has been is a WHOLE lotta work and sweat and it isn't finished yet.

Now I have visited several nurseries over the past 3 yrs since I started this project and I have never seen a nursery with all the trees and shrubs planted nor have I seen mulch all around them and gravel walkways and landscape timbers.  Here are some pics I took today while out working late this afternoon. This area is about 125 long and about 70' wide and that is just the front part.  A work in progress.

This is along the front side of my woman cave

This is the next section of the back part of the and the middle

This is the third section of this back area.

This section is off to the left closer to the front of the garden.

It is difficult to get the full scope of the garden but this is at least a portion of it. As the work progresses and as more things are in bloom I will share more.

I love gardening, but there is a limit to how much of it I can run herd over.  My garden will never be as large as that one!

Sharon - Looks like you have obviously put a lot of hard sweat and effort into creating your extra large garden. I can see why people mistake it for a nursery.

Frank I do enjoy it. I just find it more time consuming than I want.

Troy-Lots of sweat and hard back breaking work. I guess it is one of a kind around the neighborhood and that is why people think it is a nursery. NOPE just a crazy woman that got carried away.

Michael-Thank you and I can imagine your garden is beautiful. Mine still has a number of areas yet to be finished.

Michael-Thank you. I appreciate that. Lots of time and effort for sure.

Sharon I can see from the spaciousness of it, a half acre, the confusion with being thought of as a nursery, at least looking at it from a distance. Right, plants are not normally PLANTED, hence I call it a garden. SharonLand Gardens. It could easily be Virginia's #1 tourist attraction as well tended as you are to its meticulous upkeep.

I tended my dad's garden growing up my whole childhood and hated it. Now that I'm older I wish I had a garden to tend!

Gary-That is only about 1/2 of it. The back needs  quite a bit more work so I didn't take pics of it. Later as I get it done. I don't know about meticulous. More like fixing the biggest problems first.  I am gaining though.

Nicole-I can see why as a kid you wouldn't want to do that. We appreciate some things more as we get older. Gardening as a kid all the time would be a chore not fun. This garden is a passion but after 3.5 yrs it has become more of a chore but I have to get it done so I can enjoy it more and work less.

" I am not too keen on having attention drawn to myself "  says the woman hiding in the bushes in her profile picture. LOL.

I'm not surprised at all that these people stop and ask....it certainly doesn't look like someone's yard!  It's amazing!  Maybe instead of planting them, you should be selling them!

I can certainly see how someone would mistake YOUR beautiful gardens for a nursery Sharon.  I'm very impressed by what you've created.

I think that's the best impression I've gotten of your garden yet. You did a great job with the pictures. You have really put a lot of work into your nursery. LOL. Sorry I couldn't help myself.

Debbie Laity Thank you and it has been a LOT of work for sure. Probably to a lot of people it does look like a nursery.
