"Beatboxing is a form of vocal percussion connected with hip hop culture (it has been called the "fifth element" of hip hop) although it is not limited to hip hop music. It primarily involves the art of producing drum beats, rhythm, and musical sounds using one's mouth, lips, tongue, voice, and more." -- Wikipedia

Way back in High School, my basketball teammates used to beatbox in the van on our way to the game. It was a good way to pass the time...sometimes we were looking at a good 4 hour drive all the way to a game!

Did I ever beatbox? No way! But it was cool hearing them go at it.

Now I'm not into hip hop all that much and I don't understand hardcore beatboxing. But here's a great piece I came across by artist Bobby McFerrin. It's smooth, clean, and well...cool!

Michael: Glad you enjoyed. Have a great weekend!

Sandy: I only knew of the version Bob Marley sang. But isn't he great? My younger brother is big on music, he introduced me to him. He has a couple of concerts scheduled here in Los Angeles for the month of April, I'm going to try and make it out to one.

Ricardo - I LOVE beatboxing!  I just don't see how they do it - guess that why I am in in Real Estate, huh?  Bobby is the original and he is awesome!

Ricardo,

Actually, this could be on topic.  Beatboxing and blogging, both original, both creative, both expression, and both entertaining.  CopyBlogger posted this week on Rappers and Bloggers.

Ricardo, thanks for posting this.  Have you ever seen Matisyahu beatbox? -- he's amazing.  I saw him in concert 2 years ago.

Michael: actually, it was the 8th grade talent show! Let's hope that footage never gets out :-)

Leesa: Hey I'm not that coordinated either! Bobby does rock!

Rebecca:  it sure does take a lot to do both right...I didn't get to read that article by CopyBlogger..but I will.

Brian: I don't think I've seen anyone beatbox since High School. Except for Bobby and I'm not sure people would even consider that actual beatboxing. But I'll have to check it out! I'm going to try and go to Bobby's concert out here this month.

Sandy: Lol! I'm telling you, I thought that was all Bob Marley... :D

Ricardo when I got the YouTube link there were several for both Bob Marley and Bobby McFerrin......for that same EXACT song!  I was really confused!  All I can say is I remember back in the day, when the radio DJ said "Now here's Bobby McFerrin".  I even checked a couple of my Bob Marley cd's but didn't find it......oh well it's a good song whoever sings it!! :o}
