Panda Express is an American Success Story
In 1973, Andrew & Peggy Cherng opened the first "Panda Inn" in Pasadena CA with Andrew's father, Master Chef Ming-Tsai Cherng. This was one of the first restaurants to offer the Mandarin and Szechuan Cuisine to CA.
Then in 1983, Andrew Cherng opened the first "Panda Express" in the Glendale Galleria which is an upscale mall. This place took off and the express Chinese food became a reality which consumers loved to eat.
In 1993, Andrew opened his first stand alone "Panda Express" in Long Beach, CA and it was a big success also. Of course, other sites claim the first stand alone was in Hesperia! Not sure who was first!
In 2001, Panda Express entered a float in the Rose Bowl Parade and won a special award for " Bringing Cultures Together".
Panda Express now has 1792 locations across the US, Canada, Mexico, Guam and Puerto Rico.
