Bittersweet Announcement

By
Education & Training with Zillow Group Mortgages

Hi Rainers!

I have a bittersweet announcement for you. This is my last week officially working for Market Leader and ActiveRain. I have accepted a new position as an Account Manager in Zillow's Mortgage Team and I couldn't be any more excited to tell you the truth, although I am sad to take my leave from AR.

I started working for Market Leader's Customer Care team back in February of 2013. We had a small but growing team of amazingly talented and wonderful people who worked hard and always had a lot of fun.  I had a lot to learn as this was a new industry for me - I had worked as a freelance business coach for the past few years prior and also had several years of customer service experience under my belt, but Real Estate was a completely new territory. I've learned so much in the past two+ years.

Because of my extensive blogging history and my dedication to my customers, I was asked to join ActiveRain's Member Services team a few months later. This has been my favorite part about working for Market Leader - ActiveRain is so eclectic and fun, and I've gotten to know so many of you wonderful members. I worked with some amazing staff members here as well and have made some great friends.  On the right is a photo of the ActiveRain "Ghouls" from our Halloween celebration at work in 2013.

As time went on and staff members moved on to different positions or left the company altogether, my role got bigger and bigger leading to where I am now - the unofficial lead who silently runs all of Member Services. Has it been a challenge? Absolutely! You can't please everyone and sometimes, no matter how nice you are to someone, they find any reason to bite off your head.  This is just part of the job. But a great job.

There have been bugs, thousands of email/tickets to answer, hundreds of calls, comments, blogs, words... In fact, to date, I've replied to over 3800 tickets, not including the direct emails to my work email, or projects that I've done to help keep AR smoothly running. This only accounts for ActiveRain - I can't even count how many Market Leader emails I've written. That's probably nearly 10-15K over my tenure here!

As my role with AR has been so extensive and diverse, I've been using my final two weeks ensuring that our staff will have all the tools and resources available to help you in my absence, which may explain why my presence seems a little more quiet recently. I'm going to be working behind the scenes transitioning away from Member Services and focusing on my lender accounts with Zillow. I'm still going to be active on the site - just in a different capacity. I'm hopeful that Kerrie La Guardia will keep me as an 'honorary' staff member so that if something gets wonky, I can give some insights if necessary.

Feel free to message me to say hi as I would love to hear from everyone.

I'm going to stop writing now as I'm getting teary-eyed and I really don't want to try to explain to my co-workers just how it's Raining on only my face! hahaha (get the pun?)

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being so welcoming and warm and making AR such an awesome community!

Have a Rain-tastic day!

Mary Weiss

Doyle Lee Austin Davison Iv I love AR and will miss it a lot, but  I am also very excited to have new challenges and for being part of a 'pioneering' role. I'll be part of a team that is laying the groundwork for a brand new product and this is such a huge opportunity and step in my career. Zillow has a lot of growth and I'm excited to be part of it.  AR will always be home and has its place in the Zillow family.

You are still in the family.  Maybe you can help show the benefits of having a quick link to our blogs from both Trulia and Zillow since that would help the AR members in addition to giving more content (for free) to Zillow and Trulia to help with their SEO as well.

Best of luck in the new venture!

Thank you, Jim Paulson !  I will definitely push for Z to integrate some AR features on their profiles. It's my top secret mission to infiltrate Z and convert them all to AR too.
